As an artist, I explore the relationship between art and the natural world. Through indirect processes, such as printmaking, I immerse myself in the materials and begin to examine and elaborate on the images that take shape, creating connections between nature and the materials. I often start with a simple element, like a leaf, to create more complex imagery and passages. Once I have a concept, I explore color and form expanding the simple element through various printmaking processes. I deepen the work through different techniques, and I become fully immersed in the process of the work, creating a tension between the fixed structure and the ephemeral qualities in the piece.
